Zach, I appreciate the context. It’s helpful. At the same time, as you probably appreciate better than I, a photo—fixed in time and particular to a common set of data—can also transcend those facts in photography’s magical way to engage the larger roles, dynamics, atmosphere, and ironies of our political moment.
That said, in her case her history and how she got to be essentially the lead CNN reporter has been erased from peoples memory. She is everything that is wrong with real journalism in America, especially political reporting. I am genuinely perplexed to how she got the job - her reporting history before that was essentially bigoted right wing reporting one step above from Breitbart's "Black crime" section. We cannot let her work her way into us collectively forgetting that - that she is in fact part of the reason we are here today. Not a hero or a victim, but just another sleezeball.
I keep meaning to write it up. I'll add her to my list of "people you think you should like, but are truly shitty people" series I've been wanting to start.
They’re friends. Do we forget so quickly forget that Collins worked for multiple right wing “news” outlets before she got her comfy gig at CNN?

I agree.

Now I’m genuinely curious. I’ll do some homework. Thank you, Zach.
